Gallery

When I get a lonely day off it tends to be very dangerous, I try to get some work done, some tidying done, and then I go off on a contemplative mood.
I have all sorts of thoughts of having my ideal gallery again, I would love to have a real peoples gallery, giving everyone the chance to exhibit their work no matter how weird and wacky, it's only weird and wacky to the people who don't understand it. How about a gallery that displays mobile photography images at least once a month. We are never without our mobile devices these days, and most have a camera on them. Clarity of image doesn't matter, it's all about content, and the best subject matter always pops up when we least expect it, therefore we've got to be prepared for it. The mobile phone is always in our pockets, so how about we use it for creativity instead of texting as we walk without taking in any of our environment whatsoever!
I would also like the gallery to be a really inspiring place to be, how great would it be if people left thinking, I want to do that, I want my work in here, and I want to bring all my friends back to see it. I believe anyone can be creative, and we get a buzz from it, it's healthy and definitely has a kind of therapy element to it.

Hey,
Feels like I have a lot on these days, but really all I want to do is take time off and sleep!
Feeling very mentally & physically drained and really need to be in the opposite state of mind right now. Got a dissertation section deadline, and wondering when I'll feel motivated to get my finger out!
Haven't felt great this week, so perhaps that's why I'm just a bit down on myself.
Badly need to get in a better frame of mind...
Don't like negative posts, so think I'll stop now... Ill have better chat next time!

Hi

Thought I'd write up a couple of the things I've struck off my Bucket List
1) Have a Photography Exhibit, well this is in the pipeline!
2) Stay in a 5 star Hotel, done, twice!
3) complete a counseling course
4) finish my photography HND
5) go back to Oz, also in the pipeline
6) eat lobster
7) paint
8) eat in a Michelin star restaurant
9) visit more art galleries

Not bad I reckon, and to be honest some of the others on there aren't so important anymore.
I think I need to revise it... Isn't it funny how things that seemed important once don't hold much value in time.

My dissertation and the subconscious

I bought the book yesterday and couldn't wait to get reading it for a few reasons, number one I have a dissertation deadline looming, and this could be a good reference point. I also never tend to remember my dreams and would love a guide to help in this area too.
I only managed to read some of it, but by golly it's interesting, so far it's written from a very objective view point, sort of covering lots of opinions and leaving it up to the reader to make their own mind up. Opinions like, are dreams just gobbledegook, and a way for us to simply dump unwanted memories, or are they a way for us to solve the problems of our days gone by, is it a place where all of our creative juices are brought together after heavy suggestion from our conscious mind throughout the day.
What has interested me is that it is important to try and remember our dreams, no matter what they mean. If we can perhaps use these images in the creative process, like many artist gone by have, or if we can use visions to spark off business ideas, to help us be different people, or just look at things differently I see it as all great progress.
I am sure you are wondering, did I remember my dreams last night? Well I read the book before bed, and there were some techniques to try, and imagery on the pages to help promote dreaming. So I'm happy to say yes! Yes I did remember some dreams. I'm not sure if it was because I was off today and didn't get rudely awakened by an alarm and I woke up naturally. But I certainly had visions, and I made a point of scribbling what I saw down. According to the book, 8 minutes after we are awake we already drop down to 30% of what we can remember! I am not going to write about what I was dreaming, because that is just for me, but for now I'm going to continue to practice techniques on helping me to remember, I would also love to hear some of your dream stories...

Framing

So one of my frames arrived, above it looks like I got a load of them, but unfortunately so far I only have the one, I just put different pictures in the same frame! I'm really happy with it, it's clean and simple, and the mount works really well. Only ordered the one as of yet as I wanted to see if they were any good... (I will be ordering more)!

I have actually heard back from a gallery, they wouldn't do an exhibit, but have showed interest in a few images, so I'm going up there to show them some tomorrow.I think it's more of a cafe place with a gallery as well, but I'll find out soon enough.

The Black Box are taking their time getting back to me, so in the meantime I've emailed Blick Studios, I actually quite like their setup, and I can bring all my own drink to the opening night. So things are moving slowly, but at least they are moving!

Disappointed

Good morning,

I am pretty disappointed to find I'm getting nowhere regarding finding a gallery space for my work. Perhaps I haven't quite tried hard enough, but it's still rather disheartening to receive no responses.
What it does do however, is make me think again of having my own gallery. I would love to be the peoples gallery, the supportive place, the place that always welcomes new art no matter what the medium.
Last night I was at the Ormeau Baths, there was an event on that encouraged people to come in, photograph and video diary a piece of art they had made. My friend Jill and I both brought something.. Hope you can see our little extracts at the bottom there...

It was fun to do something a little different. It let's us see that there are a lot of passionate people out there that deserve to show their work off to like minded people.
So is this my calling, should I be trying hard to make a difference and make something happen...

Prints

Hi,

I got all my prints back ready for exhibition yesterday. Only had a brief flick, but I'm pretty happy with the results. Most of the prints have great clarity! I've never really seen an iPhone photo print before, and I have to say, they're pretty darn good.
For a while I trawled through eBay looking for frame and mount options, pretty difficult trying to make sure you get the right size. Hate all that as I'm pretty stupid when it comes to working out dimensions that are perfect!
Anyway I bought one frame just to see how it looks as a little test. Here's hoping it does the job!
I also emailed a few galleries asking about exhibition space, haven't heard anything back yet. How crap would it be if I get everything framed and then I have nowhere to display them!
So if anyone reading has any thoughts about exhibition space please let me know..

So I'm feeling pretty positive about being proactive about this. Also starting another project which could potentially be my final major assignment... Watch this space :)

Exhibit

Greetings,

It has been at the back of my mind for some time now to have a photography exhibit, and for whatever reason I've never really got around to putting it together.

Well after discussing it even further with my friend Mark yesterday, and basically coming to the conclusion that there really isn't anything to stop me, I have decided to get the ball rolling. Today I spent a little bit of time selecting my favourite iPhone images, (some from project 365 some not) I resized and uploaded, tried not to be my usual critical self and ordered a total of 28 images for printing.

So I obviously still have to think about mounting the images, and securing a place to display them, not entirely sure how I'll be going about that yet! However the point is I have made a start, it's something I am quite excited about, I am constantly talking iPhone photographs, and I just want to show people that there is an image to be captured everywhere, and it really doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. The point is to really open your eyes and find interest where you least expect it.

Social Networking (Oh how it really has taken over our lives!)

So my friend Neil has given me a suggestion for a blog post, a great one it was to, I hope I can put into words my thoughts...

I remember a time when we used to spend time on the phone actually having a genuine conversation, a time when my dad used to shout at me for being on too long, a time when he shouted because he wanted to use the internet at the same time, a time when I'd rather chat on the phone that study for exams, and my mum used to scream at me for not doing my coursework. I have fond memories of chatting back in my school days, about anything and everything, proper uncensored conversations.

I couldn't tell you exactly what all I talked about back then, but that's not what's important, it is where I cemented some of my most important friendships, friendships that have lasted over 20 years, yes 20 years! This is back when a friend actually meant a friend, not someone who you met once, or someone who know's someone who knows someone who knows your bother.

On Facebook it's likely that there is someone on your friends list that you went to school with that you weren't particular fond of, and in fact if they walked past you today you'd possibly avoid them! Oh how extremely superficial, why has it become so hard to hit the decline button. People clearly put status updates on for a reaction, and you wait for a response, you get a buzz from a comment, that little red alert makes you feel worthwhile. I could be talking out of turn here, perhaps it's easy for you to hit decline, and keep your friend list to actual friends, but I know I'm guilty of letting a few slip through the net! In fact I'm probably guilty of all of the above complaints. I'm not up on my high horse preaching that I do the opposite of what irritates me about Facebook. I am merely bringing to light just how sucked into something we can easily become whether we like it or not, just to become part of the modern world.

If I had to pick one Social Network creation to stick with it would probably be Twitter, even through at first I resisted and couldn't quite understand it's appeal. To me it feels much more spontaneous, honest and observant. By observant I mean, when I see something and hear conversations that are particular interesting I love to Tweet about it, it's fast and you can spark quick fire conversations with a whole host of different people. It's a place where people come together from all walks of life to share interests, hobbies and experiences. To me Twitter seems to be more of an honest place, and I don't particularly care who is following me. It is also a great marketing tool, I have been to a number of restaurants which were great due to their presence on Twitter. I have gained a lot of photography followers and people who were involved in Marathon Training.

Life moves along so so quickly and it is very easy to get sucked into the latest sensation, but isn't it about time we thought about what we were actually doing a little more, why we are doing it, and why do we need to constantly seek approval for our actions.

Bit of a dramatic end there, take from it what you will...

Hello again,

If I don't keep this up I'll never keep updating, so here I am again ready for a ramble.
I was asked the other day to think of someone that was an inspiration to me, and either phone them or write them a letter. What a wonderful idea you might think. Yeah wonderful if you can think of someone. I would love to have had someone that inspired me, someone to act as a mentor and someone that spurred me on to do great things with my life.
The truth of the matter is I don't have that person in my life, and never have done.
Saying all that perhaps I am completely wrong, and just haven't acknowledged the fact that there have been people, but I have rejected their positivity towards me. Isn't it true that if you don't accept compliments and positivity towards you it's seen as an insult. Therefore you are gradually going to receive less and less of these kinds of things from people...
An interesting concept don't you think. Tonight I am going to try and spend some time thinking about people who have tried to be a positive influence in my life and perhaps re connect with them again..
I hope that all made sense, I'm writing all this very fast on my lunch break...

Inspiration

I haven't blogged in a long long time, as you can see from my previous post! Every now and again I think I want to get back into it again, and then worry that I've nothing interesting to say....
However, I have been subscribing to and reading a lot of new blogs lately, and have found myself wishing I was witty, interesting, and able to write like that..
The only way I can find out if I can write or if I can improve is if I just get stuck in again. So here I am sitting in my hotel room in Glasgow hoping to write something vaguely interesting.
I've been here since Sunday night with work, it's been great for finding time for myself to really think, (believe it or not) even though I live alone at home, its easy to float through life refusing to pay attention to your thoughts and surroundings.
So for now I just want to dip my toe back into the blogspot virtual space, I'll come back soon, if you've read this please let me know what you'd like me to write about, or even just if you are aware of my blog

So what really happened in 2010

These past few days I've really wanted to reflect on what all happened in my life last year. It's so damn hard to sit down and do something like this, in fact I've spent the last 40 minutes pissing about looking at trash on the internet!

Anywhere here goes, lets see what waffle I can come up with!

Isn't is crazy that a year can go by without you reflecting on it one bit, what is the point of life if you can't slow down and and enjoy the good times, or even find the time to do something different and new.

I honestly cannot believe that I took one photo every single day on my iPhone, and that it is now all over. It feels so strange not looking around for that little bit of something not everyone sees. I miss it, yet love the fact that I'm free of it. The moment however is now gone, it just wouldn't be the same if I was to do it all over again. That project is over, so watch this space for the 365 book!

I find it extremely difficult to think of my achievements over the months, but that's just typical me, moving from one project to the next, not thinking, just doing and not even perhaps knowing why I'm doing it.

I have actually just found a list of New Years Resolutions from 2005! (did i just skip on to the next topic rather quick?) I'll not post them as they are a tad lame, but I pretty much achieved them all. From fitness, to job progression, and also more photography. I have also taken another look at my bucket list of which I can score a few more things off. So things seem to progress without seemingly actively doing something about it, perhaps my subconscious is better than I think. Talking of subconscious, remember when I used to do these things ? Damn I need to badly get back into all that, more painting and generally being much more arty. Perhaps it's time to be a bit more selfish and do exactly what I want. The degree I am doing along with full time work is taking up every hour pretty much, but it's not forever and we can all learn how to time manage a bit better. God I sound like a machine or something, actually sometimes I think that I am!

All in all 2010 certainly wasn't a bad year, I've seen a lot of Facebook updates saying they are glad to see the back of 2010. I definitely don't think that. I have done a lot this year, let me see if I can come up with some highlights, come on Karen do it!

ok so I've completed my HND in photography, and started my degree in Creative Imaging, sold some artwork, I've progressed in work the way I've wanted to, I have been to London, seen shows, gone to gigs, taken a photo every single day, painted, played golf, eaten in michelin star restaurants, had a thai massage (never again) studied and learnt new things, taught other people new things, been told I'm an inspiration, completed a counselling course, drank a lot of wine and had a blast with a lot of friends along the way!

Right that was hard for me so I'm done.

There's plenty of things i want to change for 2o11, but you know what, I'm just going to keep those to myself...

Happy 2011, lets make this one count

Everything has now begun to change, I look at the world through a completely different set of eyes. I look up

instead of down when I walk, and look for tone and texture where I would have never thought twice before. This outlook has forced me to slow down in life and search for the fascinating in the mundane and the colour in the bland.

My main interest has finally begun to shine through. After a lot of research of the abstract expressionist movements,

I have gained a great appreciation for past and present artists that have worked within this style. It all comes down to the fact that there is so much more than what we see on the surface.

I am now truly inspired to create work that is that little bit different, captivating and very much open to interpretation.

I want to produce work that provokes a reaction

A Photo A Day 2010

Ulster Museum continued...

Here I am again.

So I woke up this morning and was greeted with a horrible rainy Tuesday morning, this put me in foul form as I wanted some more external shots of the museum.

I went up anyway, and after driving about for an eternity trying to find parking space (parking around that area is a nightmare) I parked for a limited time of an hour.

Inside the museum is all very clean, new and white. I am ashamed to say I didn't really check out many of the exhibits as I was there to look at the architecture. Im sure I looked a bit strange dandering about looking at the roof, taking the odd picture, with my film camera, my digital camera and my iphone!

When I have a project to do, I never really know how i'm going to capture the essence of my brief. I have one thought that leads onto another, and another and then I go and do something completely different.

The interior is fairly simplistic which of course is a great contrast to all the artefacts etc on show. So on that train of thought I went for some very clean basic photography, with perhaps the odd splash of colour..

So I am nowhere near done, as of course I need to get these down on film, trying not to rush into this and get a real essence of the building before moving on.

Ulster Museum (architecture)

So I got up reasonably early this morning to do practice shots for my next assignment.

I am working on an architecture theme which needs to be shot on colour transparency!

I have decided to go for the Ulster Museum as it's just about to re-open and I was hoping for some great architectural detail.

So off I went, pretty darn cold this morning, but nice and crisp with the suggestion of blue sky out there. Stopped off for a sneaky Starbucks on the way (needed change for parking, honest) I parked at the new Queens University library, which incidentally is a pretty great looking new building as well (perhaps my back up plan). I walked over to the museum but was slightly disappointed to see fencing all the way around it, it's not actually due to re-open until the 22nd, so I should have expected something like that. I did however managed to get a few abstract shots of the corners. But what it unexpectedly allowed me to do was get a real sense of the building.

I have been doing some art history work in college, which is extremely fascinating, and proving to help me a lot in my work. There is an early photographer called Frederick Evans, and something he said about his work has managed to stay with me. He tried to get a sense of the building of which he was about to photograph, if the building could speak what would it say, is it possible to capture the essence of this piece of architecture. This has helped me so much, as initially architecture was not something I was particularly fond of capturing.

So that being said, although I could take that many many pictures today, I did stand in front of the building for quite some time thinking about how the building made me feel and how I can transfer this later when I get a chance to get closer to the architectural detail.

Until I get the opportunity to get more shots, here's just the one to wet your appetite :)

Feeling Good

Well, I guess it's time for a bit more web space to be taken up by a rant from me :)

Saturday was a lovely day, so it was a great opportunity to head up the North Coast with my camera.

I am trying to work on a bit of a project at the moment, I keep changing my mind on the specifics, but we'll just see where it all takes me.

I asked Pete where his favourite place was in Northern Ireland, the place he feels most relaxed and can really let go. I should have know (he's always talking about it) he picked the White Rocks Beach up at Portrush. I thought it would be a really nice idea to capture people at their happiest. We are all constantly rushing about, stressing over this and that, and working too hard these days. So I believe it's nice to capture people in their most peaceful state, it's something we don't really see too often. Maybe it's me that's rushing about too much and not noticing that people are happy and enjoying life. That said I wanted to try and get this freedom captured as naturally as possible.

Pete did a great job, he's very photogenic and was able to just take himself off round the beach and not worry about a big camera all up in his face!

Below I have a few examples of what I shot, I'm pretty happy with the outcome, lots more to come though. I just need more volunteers? Where are your favourite places, where do you go to clear the mind...

HDR Photography

Greetings...

I have just began experimenting with HDR photography as of today actually, so I thought I'd take to my blog and talk a bit about it.

So HDR (high dynamic range) is basically taking the same photograph in 3 different exposures and then merging them together later in Photoshop. You have to use a tripod so as every scene is captured in exactly the same position.

Today was a great day so I headed off to Castlewellan to see what I could find (incidentally I did this after stopping off at tesco to take advantage of the great wine offer they have on at the moment) Anyway, yes so I arrived at Castlewellan, and obvious as it is I headed for the castle as I figured this was the best place to start. I had a magazine with an article about capturing the images with me, (you didn't think I could do it without some point of reference did you?)

I set up my gear and proceeded to take what I needed, it was lovely just getting away on my own, I even packed a lunch! I didn't feel particularly inspired to capture anything else so I headed home to get to work on some post production.

So below we have to of my best efforts, lots more to practice on in this area, got to try and think what else what be a great subject... Feel free to suggest something :)

It's a great new thing to try, and I believe it gives the pictures a great bit of punch. but got to be careful not to over do it.

This is it all framed and ready to go to college tomorrow, complete with plastic still around the edges, oh and complete with a reflection of me, have to give the sense of glass ya know ;)

It turned out pretty decent, but sure true to form I've looked at it that much i'm not really a fan... The workbook is nearly complete, not the best work I've ever done, but it goes in to pretty decent detail about what I was trying to achieve here, maybe you'd like to put your own spin on that?

Here's what I have come up with so far regarding my latest assignment. I'm not entirely sure it's working just yet. Think I need to go for a walk here, and come back and take another look at it. You can look at something too long and really not get a proper sense of it anymore.
I am thinking I like the stool image, but I'm not sure the Hockney montage is working. What do you think?

This is my new baby, haven't had much time to play with it, but straight away I am in love, yeah in love with an inanimate object!

The Belfast Marathon

Well it certainly has been a while since I've blogged, so I thought after completing the Belfast marathon was a good a time as any to post!

So Yesterday I woke up reasonably early as you can imagine my mind was full of all sorts of things, will I be able to complete it, please don't let it be pissing down like it was in the middle of the night, and I hope I have some supporters along the way :)

I made my breakfast and was surprisingly very hungry, nerves didn't suppress my appetite thankfully. Adrian left me into town for about 8am, it was pretty darn cold and miserable at this stage but I was too pumped to care..

I wandered about a bit trying to keep warm, then Matt D popped by on his way into work, it was great to chat to someone as I was pretty much on my own at this point. Later on I thought right I gotta pee before this thing kicks off. I was just about to walk into one of the portable loos when I realised there was a huuuge queue, I stood waiting for about half an hr, finally got in did my thing, and rushed to the starting line!

So I wasn't standing long before everyone started moving, I don't even think I heard the starter gun, but just followed the masses over the start line..

This was it I was on my way, Tina's ipod strapped onto arm entertaining me on the way.. I felt good at this point, I was going nice and easy and just trying to keep a steady pace. The first spectators I recognised were Jennie & Andrew along the Hollywood road. Great to to see them and they were happy to see I was ok at the early stages, this was probably only a few miles in.

On I trotted up to the top of the airport road, there was a girl pushing another girl up the hill in a wheelchair, amazing strength!

Down past the airport was pretty dull, nothing to really look at and no spectators, but I kind of zoned out and kept on going really well. This all seems like a blur at the moment, I'm trying to remember where I went next haha. We headed back through town and up towards the Falls, everything still felt grand and I think we were coming to the 8 mile point. There were lots of water points along the way, I threw most of it round me, not cos I was hot, just because it's damn hard to drink out of a cup and run at the same time. There were a few coughing fits along the way, but nothing to hamper my performance ;)

I was very aware of the Antrim Rd coming up next, it's a long steady incline, I was not looking forward to it.. So I had a wee Dextrose energy sweet which helped, and on I went.

We were nearing the top of the hill, and a woman shout keep going half way point! I looked up and saw the sign saying 13 miles! I was so glad to be feeling grand and reaching this point! Then I was immediately traumatised because I had to do the exact same distance all over again :)

What also kept me going here was the fact that my parents were due to be at the top. I first saw my dad, looking all concerned and checking to see how I was. I then say Lisa form work taking a pic on her iPhone, which I knew would end up on Twitter. The I saw my mum with the camera out, she didn't really look at me, more concerned with getting a good pic, (just like me) I then saw my bro and his mate a few seconds later. So that was a great wee bunch of people to see at the summit, it kept me buzzing for in the incline. My mum commented aftwards that I guy reached the tope and shouted "Thank Christ it's down hill now" To be honest the downhill was nearly worst, it's a bit sore smacking the legs down, but it's nice to know your are coming down at the same time. Half way down the hill there was a lady handing out wee bits of choc biscuit, absolutely perfect timing!

The downhill continued right down to the Abbeycentre, still feeling ok here, wee bit of pain the old muscles, but plenty of strength left. This is were I saw Tina, asked how I was and took a picture of me, I think I was smiling :) Further on along there was an energy station, The were handing out orange wedges, Brilliant! I took two!

The next main point was down near Hazelbank in preparation for the jaunt along the motorway. Here I saw Jill's mum & Dad, they had just seen Jill off on her relay leg, and decided to wait and see if I turned up :) Then just a bit further on I saw Ali & Stu, I felt really pumped here and was all "yeah, high five'! A woman shouted at me "why are you not in pain'!! At this point I have no idea why I wasn't in pain this I think was about the 18 mile point, but not sure...

I started to feel it a lot more along the end of this stretch, strange that it wasn't any of my previous injuries. No knee pain, no ankle or hip pain! It was my muscles that were just beginning to scream a bit.. I said to one guy running beside me "are you enjoying yourself" with a wry smile! He said no, and I told him to keep er lit!

This part just lasted for so long, but finally we came to the Dargan Road part, this was a depressing point, all very industrial and no spectators. I had to stop and walk a bit as my muscles were aching and needed a good stretch. Also to stop for a pee, it was getting a bit dangerous to carry on, and I didn't fancy pulling "a Paula"

Finally we were coming back into town for the finish, I was a but delirious at this point at I thought at 22 miles I only had one more mile to do, forgetting that the marathon was actually 26 miles! Coming in round corporation street I saw my bro and his mate again (he later said he didn't think i was gonna make it, lookinga bit worse for ware at this point) Seeing him must have given me another energy burst though, because just round the corner I saw Robyn, and then andrew and they seemed to think I was looking good!

Not far to go now, I kept telling myself! Down the side of the embankment, with a bit more walking and jogging. Out I came onto the bridge on Ormeau, this is were I saw Richard from work with his big SLR I managed a smile and a thumbs up, this was at the 23 mile point! (the point were I thought it was over haha)

On through Ormeau park was next, this park has never seemed so big, it seemed to take forever to trample through it, and avoid random walkers out enjoying their day. The worst part was clearly the uphill Ormeau road, I had to walk a lot of it, and my face must have been a picture!

There was a volunteer at the top saying come on this is it all downhill now. So that was it I started running again and was determined not to stop until the end. Down the Ravenhill road, nice and steady, past my old abode at Oakleigh, the BP garage, and round the corner! few more leaps and bounds and I was running into the Ozone were it all ended. I had a strong finish, wouldn't call it a sprint, but pretty steady! Over the line, done! I completed the Belfast marathon in 4 hrs 54 minutes!

I don't think it has really sunk it what I have achieved, at the moment I don't see it as such a big thing. I'm just really glad I can strike it off my to do list. But more importantly I'm glad I was able to raise over a grand for Lupus UK,

Hi there,

Time for another update!

Just been out for a lovely mothers days lunch, I have lots of work to do, but just waiting for the few glasses of wine to wear off before I get to it ;)

I am currently very very keen to do a world trip, and to document it with a polaroid and a blog, I'd also like to take a proper SLR with me, but the main focus would be on the polaroid. I'd like to follow it up on my return with a book on the entire adventure. It's fills me with lots of inspiration, I know I'm not much of a writer, but I would try and do as much of a written accompaniment as possible. I would need to think of a theme though... something like how much we don't know about how other people live, how we are so caught up in our own lives, we have blinkers on, and turn a blind eye to suffering and what hardship really is... Or something like a day in the life of people from different cultures.

I'd love to know what you think of this idea.. give me some feedback please.

Happy St Patricks Day

Well a Happy St Patricks Day to all,

Don't know why I started the blog with that, I have no intention of really celebrating I've work to do!

Anyway, I promised to update with photography and marathon info, so here I am again with the latest.

I have all sorts of photography ideas buzzing round my head, from travel photography (reading a really great book at the moment, highly inspiring) to using an old Holga or Diana camera. I also have thoughts of getting a pretty decent transparency/negative scanner. Would love to scan some of my negatives or other peoples for that matter, and start putting some slide show type things together :) We shall see how things pan out.

Now onto the marathon, bit of depression in this area at the moment, I'm freakin' plagued with injury! On Sunday there I was full of good intentions and ready for the half marathon, or so I thought. I'd been getting a niggle in the right ankle, but it wasn't really stopping me from running, that is until Sunday came around! I literally ran for about 2 minutes and had to come back, there was no way it could stand any sort of impact! So so frustrated, there is swelling and a lot of tenderness, on Sunday I ended up going for a cycle instead as it has low impact. I had to do something to try and keep the fitness levels up. I've been doing all sorts to get the swelling and pain down, from exercises to methylated spirits, yes that's right, what a stupid and useless old wives tale!

Anyway there is still pain in it, and I can't risk it and run on it just yet, I'm just praying that it comes good again. I am keeping positive as my knee (fingers crossed) is ok again. I can't give up, I'm half way through training, and I will be doing this marathon one way or another..

The World is a pretty dark place right now

Greetings,

Just thought I'd put a post up about all the recent goings on in the news at the moment.

If it wasn't bad enough that we have our own shootings here in Northern Ireland, I've just learned that America and Germany have had 10 people people killed in a random act of violence! Why has the world become such an evil place, I guess it always had it's darkness, it just seems much more apparent to me now.

What I have noticed is that there is a real sense of togetherness in NI right now, no-one wants to see old times returned here, and I just hope we can pull through all of this.

Right gotta get back to work, dragged in for extra hrs today, as staff are sick!! dammit I should have said no, there's freakin' HND work to be done..

Floggin' stuff

Afternoon all,

I think I need to start flogging some stuff so i can make a bit of moolah! I've got an old PC that is definitely on my to do list, I need to clean it up outside and in, and see if anyone wants it, might actually have a buyer, so we'll see :) It's hard to big up a computer that i'm not interested in anymore haha.. but still someone will get good use out of it.

Also want to get a polaroid camera, as I just love the retro quality it gives off, all these to dos and creative ideas that I want to get going. I haven't made proper use of my time off yet, what with one thing and another, but it's oooon! Kaz is going to get Kreative :)

Money is clearly always a problem, I hate it!

*Marathon Update*

So i've been doing different kinds of exercises lately, swimming, cross training, and a wee light run. No big runs as of yet, but i'm going to try, try... an 8 miler on sunday. So please wish me luck, and pray that my old lady knee holds up :)

Fresh New start!

Well I decided to get rid of my old blog, lot of old tat on there that I really didn't want anymore. I'll keep it as a wee spare anyway though.

So here we are, fresh new start, hopefully get lots of photography updates on there, and possibly the odd marathon update, as that is becoming quite the saga!

Would really like a good personal photo project to get my teeth into, so if you would like to help me out with ideas, that would be great.
